^^^ This is a good M.R. James story to start with. Also if you are reading the King in Yellow, just treat it like any other collection of stories. It baits you into thinking there might be a bigger narrative, but it doesn't go anywhere lol

It's great but just be aware "The King in Yellow" is:
>The Repairer of Reputations
>The Mask
>In the Court of the Dragon
>The Yellow Sign
>The Prophets' Paradise

There are other stories in there but they aren't horror stories and I wouldn't bother with them, they are thrown in there because publishers in the 1800's gave zero fucks

"A Study in Emerald" is a short story written by British fantasy and graphic novel author Neil Gaiman. The story is a Sherlock Holmes pastiche transferred to the Cthulhu Mythos universe of horror writer H. P. Lovecraft.

1978 prog opera version of the H.G. Wells novel with voice acting by the silver-mercury-voiced Richard Burton and others…
is pretty fuckin great…
i know the description might not put into your head something you'd enjoy but i think you'd be surprised…

includes:
* british session legions Herbie Flowers (electric bass) and Chris Spedding (guitars)
* a dude from Moody Blues w/ a great singing voice
* the deceased thin lizzy bloke
* fantastic voice acting/spoken word by brit theatre bigshots
* songs that have a very "anime soundtrack" + "chiptune/arcade game" aesthetic
* cool illustrations from the original LP booklet

here is the youtube playlist for the full double album:

 No.204

>>202
No, but I'll put it on my list. He does ghost stories right? I like M.R James' stuff

 No.215

>>204
of blackwood i've only read the willows and yeah it's a sort of subtle ghost story, quick read, only 70pgs. kind of like an early 20th century, impressionistic The Ruins in novella tone poem form

glad you mentioned MR James, his stuff looks right up my alley

i am always looking for good recommendations and shitshootin and horror/dark fantasy is one of my favorite genres, so i'm makin a thread >>214

For the current season? Just browse some site like MAL or Anilist and pick up a few shows you like the sound of. Or if you mean in general this list has some good entry level shit to watch

lol fucking pleb
In all seriousness though it's not a modern problem (unless you're talking specifically about the gook animation quality), it's always been the case that 99% of anime is shit. It's not like every show from the 80s was as good as LoGH or Ashita no Joe
