Theres a weird false nostalgia narrative for 8chan that it was better than it ever was. It was fun in its early era where board creation was embraced for alot of communities thatd die out fast like /ebola/ or /cyber/. The problem with 8chanis both admin bs and a lack of dedicated interesting users to make the site different.the defining characteristic of many 8chan boards and even its spinoffs was endless paranoia about outsiders but without good content they had nothing to protect. They leave 4chan and gain some kind of superiority complex, resulting in the banning of anything they don't like and a stagnating userbase with no newfags.
