Pulled my garlic and hung it to dry. I'll use the bigger bulbs to replant in the winter garden this year.

Thanks budy
>do the cactus produce anything that you use?
The San Pedro and Peruvian Torch have a roughly 8% mescaline alkaloid content. I have done extractions before, the Peyote has about 30-35% mescaline content
>you smoke the Peyote?
No I make tea out of it, or dry the buttons and eat them. tbh I don't think smoking it works, I've been wrong before though
>pic 1
Cucumber doing great! It's about 5 times the size of the one from last year. Grew it from seed of a cuc from last year too the more I grow them here the more genetically predisposed the seeds will be to growing in this climate.
>pic 2
My buddys hybrid pepper grown from seed. i didnt get a high germination rate on peppers this year, im pretty bummed about it, no habernero sauce this year, fucking gh3y
>pic 3
Cherry tomatos in the back, brandy wine on the left and right. The one on the left is a first gen, looks like its going to do better over all than the other one. dat genetic shhhhiiiieeeet again

Pickled Beets, onions, and garlic all grown in the garden. Dill was grown in the garden too.

<basic brine recipe:

>2 cups water
>1 1/2 cup white vinegar
>almost a full 1/4 cup salt
>a pinch or two of sugar
Bring this to a boil, then let cool to room temp. Place vegetables and seasoning I used mustard seed, 6 yellow cyanne, sliced jalapeno, and sliced serrano in jar. Once brine I room temp, pour in to top, seal tight and refrigerate for at least 1 week.

Seeds from my Peyote. You can see at the back right the pink tube on the other one. The one just to the left of the bag had one I hadn't noticed, then a friend of mine pointed it out. So that other pink tube will turn into what's in the bag, post flowering. If it got pollinated, seeds will form in it and I'll have another pod like the one in the bag. I'll try germinating them in the spring.

I started everything from seed in September, the greens should be at an edible size and they are still basically seedlings. I think because of how hot it was still in Sept triple digits here then abruptly dropped into the 70s half way through October had something to do with it. :/ will try again next year. >if they seed, what're the effects
It's a simplistic form of bio engineering. The as the generations of plants create seed for the next generation, they will become more and more acclimated to the environment they originally grew in. The seeds I have a pretty decent for my region, they wouldn't do as well say, up in Vermont. However, after a couple grow cycles they will become acclimated to what ever new environment they are growing in. The main reason I like growing things outside other than not having space is because they become more hearty.

Not really, I haven't looked at a farmers almanac either. There is speculation, from what I've heard, that it will be unusually warm again because of how mild the winter has been so far. It's rained a lot though, and predictions are for more rain. Some dry spots have water in them, for the first time in years it seems like the aquifer is recharging. I've noticed if there's a wet winter, it's usually a mild summer here. My rancher budy speculates the same. We will see

My only real suggestions are:
Experiment with different methods of watering, planting, everything to find out what works best for you.
And
Don’t be afraid or let it stop you if you fuck something up or if something dies, or looks like it might. Plants are vary vary, resilient and they are going to die at the end of the season anyways. Figure out what works for you and that’s the best bet to success.

Add to that feed the plants. Get some good fish fertilizer, that’s all you need, worm castings don’t hurt. I prefer water soluble fertilizer, you mix it all in a bucket and pour at the roots. I wait a day if it’s not too hot at least a few hours though then water. Watering in the morning has yielded good results except for when it’s too hot you don’t want to burn the roots any time you transplant, do it after the heat of the day, sometime in the evening.

mixed a years worth of compost in for those fuckers but never fully trusted it (short term anyway) so i'll hit up some fish fert & worm cast after topping off the soil. dosed em with bone meal and some organic fert for now, see what that yields

This year we have lotsa strawberries. Every day I eat a good handful for over a week now. And discard a good handful for fugging slugs eating 'em too. And they eat the largest and ripened ones. Sucks balls. Now running out of strawberries
But now the raspberry also started to get nice red color, so gonna have the freshest fruit for another week or so.

First little harvest of peppers. I’ve had about 3x the amount of tomatoes so far. I’m assuming the cherrys and brandywine cross pollinated last year, pic related is really small for brandywine.

>they cooked for good and how do you know when to give up?
Not for good, they are just hurting. If I was growing for a farm/commercially, I’d yoink them up now. IMO it’s time to give up when ever you think it’s time to give up not worth the effort, or resources I like to see those long shots pay out so I do my best to keep everything alive as possible.
>basil
Is temperamental for a herb. It does like sun, dat heat plus sun will fuck it up p gud.
>peppers
In my experience the sun/heat won’t do much to hurt them unless you aren’t watering them once a day in excessive aka 100+ degree temps you’re better off not watering them everyday unless you’re hitting 100+ degrees

We use beer trap and egg shells to protect tomatoes.
Salt might not be a good idea for the soil.
I heard ashes are good. Problem is can't really produce enough ash just by doing some outside cooking, and burning garden waste is prohibited.

 No.2511

>ash from outside cooking
If you’re cooking with charcoal briquettes I wouldn’t use the ash because of contaminates in the briquette. Also unless you’re lighting it with just paper it’s not a good idea to use the ashes because of residual matter left from starting fluid. also yolo so w/e
>>2507
>how’s crops?
Not going bad, getting some burned leaves on the tomatoes. Still producing nicely. Only just hitting the hunnids in the past couple weeks. Compared to last year it’s been a walk in the park keeping stuff alive.

CO2 emission and carbon footprint doncha know???
Because state wants it. Have to be bagged and/or put it into bins, then the garbage company takes it away. It is used in composting yards and biomass power plants (so they burn it instead).
